You're Next Review 6/10
I heard a few good things about this movie and having not watched a
horror film in quite some time I thought I would give this a shot. It
won't win any awards for the acting or the story but it did its job.
It's a slasher film with a sense of realism along with clever kills
that I enjoyed watching and laughed at.
The first 20 minutes or so are a bit boring as we are introduced to all
the characters. Most of them aren't very likable so when the killing
actually begins the movie becomes much more entertaining. You almost
root for them to be killed, but the one savior is the main character
Erin who we do like. When the chaos begins, she takes charge and tries
to help everyone.
There is a couple of "twists" that weren't terribly hard to figure out.
What I did like was that at a few different points, the masked killers
get tired and need to take a breather. Most slasher films it seems the
bad guy never gets tired. It made the movie more realistic and had a
sense of humor so to speak.
Look past some mediocre acting and enjoy the kills. The one at the end
was my favorite, had to do with a blender but it's not what you think.
I enjoyed the movie for what it was, a solid 6/10

Whiplash
Whiplash Review 10/10
First things first, after watching this film it has instantly taken a
spot in my top 10 favorite films of all time. From the opening scene to
the grand finale, you're attention will be focused on nothing else but
this movie. I'm bummed that I didn't watch this sooner.
A young drummer is going to school at the top music school in the
country. But the main goal is to be in one particular teacher's band.
J.K. Simmons is that teacher and without a doubt gives the best
performance of his career so far. He's very intense, some would say too
intense, but he knows what he knows and is the best for a reason and
throughout the movie he proves time and again why everyone in that
school wants to play for him.
Andrew is the young drummer played by Miles Teller. He's likable and
has that drive to be the best. He definitely put in the work to make
this believable. My favorite scenes are with Andrew and Fletcher (the
teacher) and the back and forth between the two. It was also quite
funny with the insults that were thrown out by Fletcher as the teacher.
It almost felt like a sports film but instead of a coach and athlete,
its a teacher and his student.
I think this film brings up a few questions about life such as, how far
is too far when it comes to teacher and student? How hard are you
willing to go to get what you want? And is it worth it? Plain and
simple this is a movie I think anyone involved in music should watch as
well as anyone who enjoys awesome films. A perfect 10/10

Cinderella
Cinderella Review- 2/10
With what seems like a million different versions of this classic
fairytale, you would think Disney would go all out and make this one
new and exciting but still keep the core parts the same. However, what
you get is a very outdated movie with acting that is mediocre at best.
The only part I found interesting and enjoyable on film is when the
fairy godmother (played by Helena Carter) shows up and does her thing.
Turning the pumpkin into a carriage etc.
The animated version will always be the best but I don't think even
young girls will be able to enjoy this. Just way too dull and it felt
like an eternity.

Nightcrawler
Nightcrawler Review 8/10
I always believe that when the main character in a movie isn't likable
I lose all interest because I don't care what happens. This movie
proved me wrong because of Jake Gyllenhaal's performance. He plays a
guy named "Lou" who we learn in the beginning is a thief and sells
stolen goods for cash. While driving home, he comes upon a car crash
where a van pulls to the side and a couple guys with camera's hop out
and start to film it. He overhears them talking about selling the
footage and whatnot. He approaches them for a job and the guy tells him
to take a hike, not that politely though.
This is where he gets the idea and wants to do this himself. He buys a
camcorder, police radio and hires a guy off the street to be his gps so
to speak. He learns the LA cop codes and only goes after the graphic
accidents. He becomes so successful he's able to buy a new car.
About half way is when you realize how terrifying this guy can be. When
he beats the cops to a crash, he moves a victim so that he can get a
better shot. What's most important to him, is him and his success and
doesn't care about anything else. The ending will sum of the type of
person he is. I hated the guy, but he was interesting and I was
intrigued at how far he was willing to go. A solid 8/10
